With a market leading product portfolio, this opportunity for an IT Support Engineer would see you joining a thriving organisation who are continuing to grow despite the difficult economic climate. This role requires at least a fundamental understanding of Mac OS and servers as well as strong Windows experience. The IT Support Engineer provides general IT helpdesk and desktop support for their UK operation and infrastructure support to their EMEA head office (approx. 350 users). Energetic, highly collaborative people are being sought for our client’s dynamic and fast-paced environment. Duties and Responsibilities: · Provide 1st line technical support by answering and responding to enquiries from users and help them to resolve their hardware, software and applications problems via phone, email or in person. · Install, configure, deliver, tag and remove computer hardware, software and peripherals. · Assist with the preparation and installation of new servers. · To maintain a high degree of customer service for all support queries and adhere to all service management principles. To take ownership of user problems and to be proactive when dealing with user issues. · Maintain the IT hardware and software inventory. · Support users in the use of computer equipment by providing necessary training and advice. · Assist in managing facilities, security and other miscellaneous responsibilities as required and assigned. · Work with vendors to replace parts on computers and peripherals. · Document and maintain common user processes and procedures. This is fantastic role which is ideally suited for a fresh graduate (IT related degree) or someone with relevant helpdesk / desktop support in their career to-date. Core skills include: • Solid understanding of Windows packages • Strong PC & Mac hardware knowledge, including laptops, desktops and servers • Team player – highly collaborative and a strong preference to work as part of a team • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills • Knowledge of basic LAN/WAN design and understanding of functional relation between network and desktop environments (TCP/IP knowledge) • Able to work effectively both over the phone and in person with end users requiring assistance • Customer-service orientation, high energy, helpful and positive attitude. • Demonstrated success working cross-functionally This role would suit someone looking to establish or further develop a career within IT Support and looking to receive recognition for performance and effort. This role requires someone to be available on-call outside of regular work hours so the ideal applicant with live within a 30 minute commute of Slough. This client is readily commutable by road and public transport from locations including, Reading, Maidenhead, Windsor, Staines, Egham, Hounslow and Bracknell.
