Our client, a global pharmaceutical company with an innovative and exciting growth plan, are currently looking for a Government Affairs & Communications Manager to join their team.

A key member of the team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the Government Affairs & Communications strategy for their leading therapy area portfolio.   

Representing not only our client but also the wider pharmaceutical industry, this is an exciting opportunity to engage with Ministers, Senior Civil Servants, Parliament and cross working groups to play a part in supporting and shaping the pharmaceutical sector in the decades to come. 

Crafting a coherent media engagement strategy to share the innovative medicines our client is working on will also be at the heart of the work you do.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop high impact public affairs, policy and media engagement strategies in support of a key therapy area
  • Create and implement strategic government affairs and communications plans in line with business goals
  • Manage external relationships with key political and NHS stakeholders and communicate policy messages to decision makers
  • Coordinate and lead broader media engagement strategies, working closely with the marketing team to ensure strategies are in line with brand goals

Requirements

  • Educated to degree level in a life sciences subject
  • Previous experience in Government Affairs & Communication management particularly within the pharmaceutical industry
  • Proven background in liaising with journalists and key political stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of the ABPI code
  • Team oriented with the ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with partners and other teams
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent project management skills
