Park Street People take part in 34th Windsor Half Marathon

By Ollie Cook, 26th September 2016

Some of the team at Park Street People took part in the 34th Windsor Half Marathon yesterday, Sunday 25th September, with the aim of raising funds for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.

With our office located just round the corner from the start and finish line on The Long Walk, within Windsor Great Park and with the Castle as the backdrop, the team were fortunate enough to be able to train on some of the actual course. It didn’t make it an easy run by any means but all three of them finished in very respectable times with Ollie coming in at 1:40:53 and our resident twins evenly matched at 2:08:01.

Ollie Cook explains, It was a cool, overcast start, but quickly became very sunny and quite hot. First lap up to 6 miles was fairly ok, with all three of us intentionally starting towards the back of our time groups. The 2nd loop was out to Virginia Water and Guards Polo and back, with the back being much more uphill – miles 10-12 were very challenging and the last mile along the Long Walk back to the finish line was definitely a bit deceptive – I was shouting out in pain at one stage before a sprint finish!”

Ollie, Minerva and Monopoly all wish to say a big thank you to everyone that supported them both before and on the day.

There is still plenty of time to contribute to a fantastic cause, it’s never too late! Please visit our Just Giving page to make a donation.
